Students' Advice:
1. Tell your teacher if your friend is upset or depressed and won't tell you why.
2. Tell your school counselor that you're worried about your friend and he/she won't talk to you.
3. Talk to your parents about it, and ask them what you should do.
4. Talk to your friend and use an "I" statement like this one:
"I worry when you look sad, because I care about you and want to help."
Teacher's Advice:
I think my students gave great advice this week! Here are some things you can do if you are worried about a friend who won't tell you what's bothering them.
1. Let them know that they can trust you, and that you're there for them.
2. Be a good listener if your friend tries to talk to you about a problem he or she is having.
3. Talk to your teacher or counselor. If your friend's problem is with you, the counselor may be able to set up a meeting between the two of you, or arrange for peer mediation.
4. If your friend seems sad, depressed, or distant and won't tell you why, tell your teacher or school counselor that you are concerned about him or her.
5. Continue being a good, caring friend always!
